West Is Best Frederiksted St Croix VI

It took us 5 days to get to the West Coast of St Croix but when we did we knew it was home. The saying here is "West is Best" and it is easy to understand why.

The people of St Croix have all been very nice and helpful. You can strike up a conversation with anyone you meet on the street or in a cafe. But there is something special about the West End. Strand Street, overlooking the Caribbean Sea, is reminiscent of Lahaina, Maui Hawaii some 20 years ago.

It is a quiet and quaint little town just waiting for new life. The cruise ships are scheduled to return to Frederiksted next January and that will no doubt change everything. And probably not for the best.

Strand St. hosts 2 banks, a real estate company, Hotel Frederiksted, a Scuba dive shop and Tropical Java (the only coffee shop on the West End).

All in all this is a great place to live but don't tell anyone, we want to keep it to our self.
